Journey Forward Empowerment Program
We've heard from many survivors that utilizing systems-based services is not an option for them. Many individuals who have survived sexual violence, particularly those from marginalized communities such as Black, Indigenous, and People Of Color (BIPOC), Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+), college-aged, and low-income survivors, often feel hesitant about reaching out to law enforcement or contacting a rape crisis center due to past negative encounters and concerns about discrimination. Additionally, while one-on-one advocacy and clinical therapy are valuable resources, they may not suit every survivor's needs, particularly those who find solace in artistic expression and seek a holistic approach to healing their minds, bodies, and spirits.
Recognizing that recovery from sexual violence is a deeply individual journey, it's essential to offer diverse and inclusive services that cater to a range of preferences and needs. By acknowledging that there's no one-size-fits-all solution, we aim to provide alternative support options that may not currently be available elsewhere. Our Journey Forward Empowerment Program will serve a vital role in supporting a survivor’s mind, body, spirit, and community connection throughout their healing journey. We aspire to partner in their recovery and create meaningful opportunities for survivors to access care and support outside of traditional system-based services
